Tell Charleston County Council: No subsidies for war criminals!

Here in Ladson SC, a weapons and surveillance manufacturer is diverting millions of taxpayer dollars from our community and into the hands of private war profiteers.

Elbit Systems of America is an Israeli weapons and surveillance manufacturer with a facility operating out of Ladson SC on Palmetto Commerce Parkway. Their weapons are being used overseas to bomb children, families, hospitals, and journalists in blatant war crimes that violate international and American law. Despite this, Elbit’s Ladson facility opened with financial support from Charleston County Council, receiving a $700,000 Set Aside Grant proposed by the South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development. Additionally, the county and the state’s Department of Commerce provided Elbit Systems with tax incentives including a fee in lieu of tax credits, known as a “FILOT,” and a Special Source Revenue Credit. These tax incentives divert millions of dollars away from Charleston’s public schools and failing infrastructure and into the hands of private war profiteers.

Our hard-earned money and resources should be going toward our children and communities, not into the pockets of billionaires and to fund war crimes. As a Charleston County resident, I support the demands for Charleston County to end their contract with Elbit and evict them from our town!
